A
nonlinear diffusion equation for two-dimensional spreading of a thin film of
viscous incompressible fluid on a horizontal plane is derived. The boundary
condition on the normal velocity at the horizontal plane includes suction or
blowing. A group invariant solution is obtained in which the normal component
of the fluid velocity at the horizontal plane is proportional to the height of
the thin film at that point. This solution includes both the effects of suction
and blowing.
