Equivalence Classes and Symmetries of the Variable Coefficient Kadomtsev-Petviashvili Equation

We classify variable coefficient Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (VCKP) equation into equivalence classes under the group of local point transformations. We make use of the equivalence group to do this classification and list representatives of equations in each class. We obtain the Lie algebra of the symmetry group of the VCKP equation and discuss several issues concerning symmetries.
