This work describes results of analysis of characteristics of water sonolysis . dissociation of water in acoustic fields. The effectiveness of water sonolysis (which is introduced as a ratio of the energy of decayed chemical bonds to the acoustic energy dissipated in water) was estimated for many experimental data. Some of data were obtained from experiments in noncavitation conditions, and other data were taken from known publications. It is discussed the temperature dependence of the sonolysis effectiveness. It was found that this dependence for sonolysis is similar to the temperature dependence of sonoluminescence. Possible mechanism of water sonolysis is discussed.
