Conservation Laws and Associated Symmetries for Certain Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations

We obtain conservation laws for a class of nonlinear partial differential equations which contain arbitrary functions of certain variables.  We determine the conserved vectors by the direct method and then invoke a theorem due to Kara and Mahomed ["Relationship between Symmetries and conservation Laws", International Journal of Theoretical Physics, Vol. 39, No. 1, 2000]  to check if the conditions for which the symmetries are associated with the conservation laws are satisfied.
